The SmartEdge effect can also be applied to NGUI Labels and Sprites. This works for NGUI 3.11.0 or higher.
However, NGUI by default doesn't provide the necessary callbacks to execute the Material modifications, so the NGUI code needs to be patched so that it correctly call the SmartEdge functions. To make this process as simple and painless as possible, the plugin provides a patch editor that shows what modifications are needed and with a click of a button, it allows patching or removing the modified code.
To access the patcher, select from the main menu: Tools \ I2 SmartEdge \ Apply Patch
A new window will open, showing all the needed modifications and its status (whatever it has been already patch, is not found or if patching is available)
To execute the patching, just click "Apply Patch" and the code will be modified, as well as the Scripting Define Symbols in the Player Settings.
The window will show now that everything is ready to go:
After that, just follow this instructions to Use or Create an SDF Font/Asset and Add an SmartEdge Component
